Insentient, inorganic,
A green rock lies in the midst of a beach.
Hazel-green eyes behind the lens of a digital camera,
A foggy glass with water droplets fanning inside.
Time slows for her; for me it always remains the same,
In this moment she thinks she is infinite,
Not knowing that only me and her memories are.
Where the river meets the forest,
Dead leaves float on water; I lay amongst my brethren.
A forest pathway is bathed orange by the setting sun,
I spot a fawn galloping through the soft grass.
Uncanny shaped leaves remind me of stars,
Sunlight fashions glinting rays resembling arcs,
But I remain inanimate, insentient.
